Within the field of crystallization Freeze Tec specializes in melt suspension crystallization. Basically a feed is cooled to the point where one of the components in the feed starts to crystallize. The crystallized component is then separated  from the remainder of the feed with a solid liquid separator. Key components for this patented process:

Crystallizer:  a jacketed cylinder where heat is with drawn from the process side whilst rotating scrapers prevent formation of a crystal layer on the wall.

Wash column: a solid –liquid separation device where crystals are effectively removed from a slurry with high efficiency 

The promise of crystallization to provide benefits to the client in terms of lower investment costs and lower running costs when compared with distillation or layer crystallization has frequently been broken by plant concepts that cannot meet the demands of robust operation.
